Commercial MEL Certified Flight Instructor - SEL Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument Airplane Glider Pilot/Tow Pilot Tail Wheel Driver
John received his private pilot’s license in 1973 from one of the last WWII US Navy Chief Airplane pilots (enlisted rating), while serving his enlistment with the Naval Reserve in Glenview, IL. Except for a 10 year hiatus while he pursued other interests such as endurance bicycle riding and sports car racing, he has since accumulated more than 3500 hours, 600 in gliders.
John retired to St. George from San Diego after a 35 year career in marketing and sales of electronic components. “This is a great opportunity”, he says. “After working hard for 35 years at something I didn’t like doing, I at least put enough away to retire early and do something I really do like to do!” John owns a Maule M7-235 aircraft which he uses for glider towing at regional and national glider competitions during the summer. He is also an Angel Flight mission pilot and flies a Dornier 328 jet part time charter for Vision Airlines in North Las Vegas.
John has a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign, IL, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He and his wife, Barbara, reside in Washington UT with their Basset hound, Huckleberry – who also loves to fly.
